The largest housing development by Community Housing Partnership is in Hayes Valley, on a site formerly occupied by the Central Freeway. Named after the founders of Marcus Books, the oldest independent African-American bookstore in the country, Drs. Julian and Raye Richardson Apartments is home to 120 formerly homeless individuals, and includes space for a social-venture bakery and cafe that provides employment training and jobs to building tenants. CHP partnered with Mercy Housing California to develop this project, Community Housing Partnership is the owner and operator of the building.
